In the South African city of Sun City, the World Powerlifting Championship for sub-juniors and juniors is taking place, where Mongolian athlete Bilguunzaayaa Munkhtsetseg achieved historic success, becoming the absolute world champion with an impressive lead over her competitors. The competition, which runs from August 18 to 29, has gathered over 420 top athletes from 60 countries.
Mongolia is represented at the tournament under the guidance of Honored Coach of the country Battulga Dasha.
Success in the 76 kg weight category
Competing in the 76 kg weight category among sub-juniors, Bilguunzaayaa Munkhtsetseg demonstrated outstanding results, winning three gold medals in each of the powerlifting disciplines:
- Squats: 190 kg — 🥇 Gold medal
- Bench press: 82.5 kg — 🥇 Gold medal
- Deadlift: 162.5 kg — 🥇 Gold medal
At the awards ceremony, Bilguunzaayaa ascended to the highest step of the podium, receiving four gold medals: three for individual disciplines and one for absolute victory in the total of the powerlifting.

She outperformed her closest competitor from Romania by 10 kg. According to official data, the podium in the 76 kg weight category is as follows:
- Bilguunzaayaa Munkhtsetseg (Mongolia) — total: 437.5 kg
- Rozana Deak (Romania) — total: 427.5 kg
- Kobi Mellett (South Africa) — total: 350.0 kg

Thanks to this outstanding achievement, Bilguunzaayaa Munkhtsetseg became the first Mongolian athlete to win the title of world champion in powerlifting among sub-juniors.
