Fitness influencer Connor Murphy has died at 32 after a drowning incident in Thailand, according to ThaiRath, which identified him as American national Connor Michael Murphy.
The emergency call came around 3 p.m. local time on July 7, 2026, in the Bang Phli district of Samut Prakan province. Police, medical staff from Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital, and Por Teck Tung Foundation rescue volunteers responded to a report that a foreign man had entered a lake inside a luxury residential village.
Divers recovered Murphy’s body roughly 20 meters from shore. The initial examination found no signs of assault, and authorities sent the body for a formal autopsy. Investigators also planned toxicology testing while collecting evidence and notifying the U.S. Embassy in Thailand.
What Authorities Reported From The Scene
The property was a lakefront rental home valued at about 22 million baht, or roughly $600,000 at recent exchange rates. The home had reportedly been leased for three months at 35,000 baht per month.
According to ThaiRath, a village employee recorded video after Murphy began acting erratically for unknown reasons. Security personnel said he returned by hired vehicle, offered the driver 1,000 baht, tried to approach another resident’s car, shouted loudly, rolled on the road, and made praying gestures before police arrived.
When officers reached the area, Murphy ran into the village and entered the lake. Witnesses said he swam until he became exhausted and disappeared in water described as more than 10 meters deep. Rescue divers searched for about 30 minutes before recovering him.
A 22-year-old woman identified by ThaiRath as Murphy’s girlfriend said they had been together for roughly three years, had lived separately because of lifestyle differences, and had reunited less than three months before the incident. She told the outlet she had not seen him use drugs during their time together and did not know what caused the sudden behavior.
The homeowner said she was shocked by the condition of the house, which had reportedly been covered with paint inside, including furniture and appliances. Investigators said they found two unused syringes in Murphy’s car and unidentified white pills in a waist bag. Those findings do not establish a cause of death; authorities said further examination and testing were pending.
Tony Huge Reflects on Murphy’s Final Days in Thailand
Bodybuilder and biohacking figure Tony Huge, who said he was Murphy’s friend and had recently filmed content with him in Thailand, posted a video tribute after the news began circulating on July 7.
Huge said Murphy had been living on a golf course in Bangkok at a house that backed directly onto water. In his account of the incident, Huge said Murphy “he drowned in his backyard lake,” while also acknowledging that more details led up to the drowning.
Huge said he was in Pattaya, about two hours away, when he learned what happened. He said he had last seen Murphy roughly 10 or 11 days earlier, had spoken with him shortly before his death, and believed Murphy was excited about projects they had recently finished. Huge added, “He certainly wasn’t depressed.”
Huge also described Murphy as being focused on two major goals near the end of his life: raising people’s consciousness through his content and pursuing golf seriously. He said Murphy had been working on golf skills, a new swing, and content with younger Bangkok-based aesthetic influencers who saw him as an inspiration.
The most unusual part of Huge’s video centered on Murphy’s alleged biohacking experiments. Huge said Murphy had been experimenting with gold injections and that friends were concerned. That remains Huge’s account only. Thai authorities have not said gold, supplements, or any specific substance caused Murphy’s behavior or death.
Who Was Connor Murphy?
Murphy became one of the most recognizable fitness prank and physique creators of the mid-2010s. His 2016 video The Connor Murphy Fake Shirt Trick became his signature viral moment and has more than 63 million views on YouTube.
His content mixed bodybuilding, aesthetics, public reactions, dating-style pranks, and self-improvement themes. A 2024 Thai report from Naewna identified his YouTube channel as having more than 2.4 million subscribers at the time.
His earlier viral moments included a 10-minute transformation video and a prank-gone-wrong arrest clip from his early content era.
Murphy’s online career later shifted away from standard fitness videos into spirituality, consciousness, biohacking, golf, and surreal public performance. Huge framed that shift as part of Murphy’s larger effort to push his audience beyond surface-level fitness content.
There had also been previous legal trouble in Thailand. In May 2024, Naewna reported that police in Chonburi responded to an incident involving Murphy, then identified as a 30-year-old American YouTuber, after allegations that he damaged a home and injured a woman with a golf club. A friend reportedly described the situation as content-related. That earlier report is separate from the July 2026 drowning investigation.
What Comes Next
For Murphy, the verified record is narrow but serious: Thai authorities reported a drowning, no assault wounds in the initial examination, and an ongoing autopsy and toxicology process. Fitness Volt will update this story if officials release additional findings.
Murphy’s death adds another painful name to a growing list of fitness personalities who have died young. Fitness Volt recently covered the death of Brazilian bodybuilder Gabriel Ganley at 22 and an Indian bodybuilding star who died at 26, reminders that early cause-of-death reporting has to be handled carefully.
The Fitness Volt team sends its condolences to Murphy’s family, friends, and everyone who knew and supported him throughout his career.
