Para-Powerlifting President Kingsley Awodi Pledges: We Are Committed To Introducing Impactful Reforms


Recently elected president of Para Powerlifting Federation of Nigeria (PPFN), Kingsley James Awodi has come out with a stong pledge that his tenure at the helm of affairs is committed to the task of introducing reforms in the sector.

Sports247 reports that, while acknowledging the huge amount of support that ensured he was elected unoppossed for a four year term in the physically challenged powerlifting secotor, Awodi promised to step up his efforts more than ever.

He added that a major focal point for his administration will be the discovery of new talents in the sport, considering that many of the present generation para-powerlifters are already advancing in age and they have to be replaced gradually before they step aside.

The renowned philantropist and youth developer, who won all 12 votes at the PPFN’s elective congress in the VIP Lounge of Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday, announced further that he is eager to create opportunitiues for expansion, talent development and reforms.

He described his election as a call to national service and promised to lead an inclusive administration that is fully focused on sustaining Nigeria’s current dominance in international para-powerlifting through the organisation of more trials across the country.

“Our administration will be deliberate in discovering and developing new talents by organising more Para Open Trials, especially as some of our athletes are nearing the latter stages of their careers. Our goal is to continue producing world-class athletes who will make Nigeria proud on the global stage.

“We are committed to introducing impactful reforms that will positively affect our athletes and further strengthen the federation. We also aim to inject fresh talents who will continue to fly Nigeria’s flag proudly across the world,” Awodi concluded.

Sports247 reports further that Awodi also urged all athletes, coaches, administrators and stakeholders to support his administration’s vision for greater heights in para-powerlifting.
