Former bodybuilder and actor Jayne Trcka died in San Diego last month, officials said Tuesday. She was 62.
Trcka died Dec. 12, but her cause of death remains pending, the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to NBC News. Her son told TMZ that he was unaware of any potential illnesses that may have led to his mother’s death.
There was no answer at a phone number listed for Trcka’s son in public records when an NBC News reporter called Tuesday. Representatives for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office and the public safety department did not immediately respond to a request for more information about Trcka’s death.
Trcka, a Minnesota native, began competing in the 1980s when the bodybuilding craze swept the nation. She quit as a post office worker in 1998 to become a full-time fitness trainer, according to her website.
“I have been able to turn my hobby and love for fitness into my career and help other people with their goals,” Trcka wrote on the site.
Her popularity rose after she appeared in some fitness magazines through her bodybuilding, but Trcka is most likely best known for her role as Ms. Mann in the 2000 hit comedy “Scary Movie.”
She also appeared in an episode of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” and the music video for Lady Gaga’s “Telephone,” which featured Beyoncé.
