Kelsey Yung from Barrow has had a phenomenal return following her participation in the National Amateur Body-Builders’ Association (NABBA) on September 24.
The former Miss Britain, who works as a barber, received the title of Miss Toned figure, which will qualify her for the NABBA Miss Universe title on October 28.
In addition to this title, Kelsey scooped four titles at the International Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (IBFA) which took place in Workington on October 1.
She won the titles of Miss Cumbria, Miss Toned, Miss Overall and Best Presentation.
The IBFA’s Miss Cumbria Title will qualify her for the Britian’s Final on October 22.
Kelsey said she was ‘not expecting’ to win the Miss Cumbria title.
She said: “These wins have been brilliant considering that I stopped for five years and I’m 40 years old now.
“I’ve been doing bodybuilding since 2009. When I first started I just loved it. It is not everyone’s cup of tea because you are on a strict diet for so long, but it just seemed to fit in.
“It’s an amazing sport. It has made me learn so much about my own body. Pick a sport that you can learn and educate yourself through – this is what I have done, and it has changed my life.”
Praising her family support Mrs Yung said: “My journey couldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for my amazing family.
“They have encouraged me and supported me right from the start. I am forever grateful for that. My husband is my rock, and he is my biggest supporter. He is my everything.”
Kelsey Yung has won a number of bodybuilding titles, from Miss Physical Culture Association (PCA) World to Miss NABBA Britain, Miss NABBA UK and two times Miss NABBA Northwest.
