Adam Foster – AKA Shreddy – travelled to Sydney, Australia to represent he UK in the NABBA World Championships
A Teesside wrestler put on a dazzling display of muscle to take third place in a world bodybuilding championship competition in Australia.
Adam Foster, who goes by Shreddy in the wrestling ring, travelled to Sydney to represent the UK in the NABBA World Championships and was thrilled to take third place. While other little boys were dreaming of becoming football players, the 33-year-old Hartlepool man, always dreamed of being a wrestler, but people said he would never do it because of his physique.
But, Adam proved them all wrong and after a lot of very hard work went on to become Shreddy. His new-found muscles led him to start taking part in body-building competitions where he has been hugely successful – even competing in Mr Universe.
The former Brierton schoolboy, said he was delighted to be placed third in his most recent competition. He said: “NABBA Worlds is the second biggest, most prestigous show behind the Mr Universe. As a NABBA Mr Britain winner I was representing NABBA UK.”
He said there were seven competitors in his class, Classic Bodybuilding Class, and 70 athletes in the show in total. Adam added: “I lost around 30lbs during this prep to get into shape.
“During this bodybuilding prep I also travelled to Switzerland and Las Vegas to wrestle and appeared on WWE Smackdown on Netflix and I will be back in Japan in August wrestling.”
As for bodybuilding, Adam will also soon be getting ready to take part in the NABBA Universe championships in October, which will take place in Gateshead.
Adam, who works in digital marketing, said: “I first stepped into Eddy Ellwood’s gym in 2013 at the age of 22. I had been training in the gym and lifting weights since a teenager as I grew up loving WWE and always wanted to be a WWE wrestler, that is why I started weight training and going to the gym.
“I got into bodybuilding through reading online about how to lift, exercise and diet to get into shape and add muscle.”
He said the support he has had from friends and family, as well as people of Hartlepool, has been ‘absolutely insane’. He added: “The bodybuilding look isn’t for everyone – but the majority of people seem to be really happy that a local lad is following his dreams and doing what he loves.”
