The almost three-decade-old German sports nutrition company Bodybuilding Depot competes quite heavily in the saturated space of protein powder, while also reaching into other key categories like aminos, creatine, and pre-workout. The experienced brand has now turned its attention to functional food, introducing its first protein bar with a deliberately simple approach and a name that clearly communicates its primary highlight in P40pure.
The compact Bodybuilding Depot functional product, P40pure, has 40% protein, working out to 20g per bar, primarily from whey concentrate and calcium caseinate, with tapioca syrup, glycerin, collagen, and rapeseed oil filling out the rest of the recipe. The legacy brand has intentionally avoided a chocolate coating, sugary bits, and crispy pieces, as well as maltitol, fillers, colors, and palm oil. As you can see in the image, it isn’t shooting for any sort of dessert-style experience or decadent appearance; it’s a plain and simple protein bar in a Strawberry Yogurt flavor.
Alongside that traditional 20g of protein in every P40pure Protein Bar, Bodybuilding Depot has a moderate 10.4g of carbohydrates with close to a gram of that sugar, 7.8g of fiber, 4.9g of fat, and 171 calories. It is a surprising launch, mostly because of the fact that this is its first protein bar from Bodybuilding Depot, and you can purchase it starting this week from the brand’s website at a reasonable and competitive €2 each or €1.90 apiece for a box.
