The State-Level Powerlifting Championship 2026 was held in Srinagar, with more than 50 athletes from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir participating in the event.
The championship was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Bodybuilding, Powerlifting and Arm Wrestling Association. It provided a competitive platform for athletes to demonstrate their strength and skills in powerlifting.
The event also served as a selection platform for the WRPF India National Championship scheduled to be held in Delhi. The selection process was intended to provide eligible athletes from Jammu and Kashmir with an opportunity to compete at the national level.
Sheikh Farhaan, president of the organising association, highlighted the association’s commitment to promoting powerlifting and supporting athletes across Jammu and Kashmir.
The association also emphasised the role of sports and fitness in encouraging young people to adopt healthy lifestyles and promoting a drug-free sporting culture.
