Chhattisgarh powerlifter Jaideep Sahu won a gold medal at the Asian, Pacific and African International Powerlifting Championship. Competing in the 66 kg senior category, Sahu achieved a total lift of 452.5 kg to secure the top spot.Sahu recorded a lift of 180 kg in squat, 102.5 kg in bench press, and 170 kg in deadlift during the equipped category event. The international tournament is being held from 4 July to 12 July.Indian team coach Krishna Sahu stated that other lifters from the state, Priyank Mishra (93 kg) and Aman Shukla (120 kg), will compete in their respective categories on Tuesday. Both athletes are medal contenders in the ongoing equipped segment.The classic (un-equipped) category matches will begin on Wednesday. Jaideep, Priyank Mishra, and Aman Shukla will represent India in their respective weight categories during this segment.
