KUCHING: Bodybuilding is not just about competition and should be embraced as part of a healthy lifestyle, says Sarawak Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) president Dr Malvern Abdullah.
“It is always our hope to see that everyone will promote a healthy lifestyle,” he said.
Dr Malvern made the remarks at the Fifth Annual Mr Kuching Bodybuilding Championship at AEON Mall here today (June 13), noting that bodybuilding is known for promoting healthy living.
He said athletes in the sport practise healthy eating habits and maintain regular physical activity as part of their daily routines.
Dr Malvern stressed that bodybuilding should not be viewed as a pursuit reserved only for competitive athletes.
“Building muscle is not just for athletes. Bodybuilding is for everyone,” he said.
He added that the sport offers numerous benefits, particularly in muscle development and overall physical well-being.
According to him, bodybuilding also contributes to healthy ageing and improved mobility, allowing individuals to move and walk more easily when they remain fit.
He added that the sport helps in disease prevention and supports longevity, encouraging people to maintain a consistent fitness lifestyle.
“Let us continue to promote this good sport of bodybuilding,” he pointed out.
Additionally, he congratulated the Kuching Division Bodybuilding Association (KDBBA) and the organising committee for successfully staging the championship for the fifth consecutive year.
Dr Malvern also expressed his appreciation to Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii and the event sponsors for their continued support of bodybuilding and fitness development in the state.
