The World Powerlifting Championships, hosted by Belarus in the city of Minsk, concluded with an impressive performance by Afghanistan’s national team, whose athletes secured six valuable medals.
During the international competition, Afghan powerlifters competed against athletes from various countries in different categories of the sport, including deadlift, bench press, and squat.
At the end of the tournament, Fawad Sherin Sokhan, Noor Ahmad Sakhi Zada, Mirwais Rafi Zada, and Jaber Sherin Sokhan won gold medals.
Meanwhile, Rohullah Khairandish earned a silver medal, while Hamidullah Hakimi claimed a bronze medal.
The competition, which began last week in Minsk with the participation of athletes from ten countries, featured Afghanistan’s team consisting of six athletes and one coach.
This achievement comes as Afghanistan’s national powerlifting team returned to international competition after an eight-year absence caused by various challenges, marking a successful comeback on the global stage.
