Slovak giant Michal “Križo” Križánek is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary bodybuilding. His massiveness and muscle quality are unquestionable, yet he is sometimes one step short of the absolute top. Legendary 1983 Mr. Olympia titleholder Samir Bannout now shares his take on what Križo needs to change to leave no one in doubt at the upcoming New York Pro 2026.
It’s not just about volume and sculpting
According to Bannout, Krijo’s problem isn’t a lack of muscle or poor form.
“It’s not about doing the ‘most muscular’ pose or just being more chiseled. He’s already extremely massive and hard,” Bannout explains.
The key to success, he says, lies in the details of presentation and posing.
Samir points out the specifics of Kriz’s physique – specifically his longer torso and slightly shorter legs in proportion. It is here that he sees room for improvement that can determine victory.

Inspiration from Serge Nubret.
Bannout believes that Križo should take inspiration from legends of the past, such as Serge Nubret. He was a master at creating the illusion of a more perfect symmetry and a more aesthetic physique by making small adjustments to poses (for example, by twisting the torso slightly).
“Krijo needs to make small changes in his expression to sell his character in the best light. He needs to learn the right angles that will enhance his beauty and hide minor asymmetries,” adds the “Lion of Lebanon”.
New York Pro 2026: No pressure, but with ambition
The good news for fans is that Michal Križánek can go into New York with a clear head. Thanks to his recent dominant win at the British Grand Prix Pro 2025, he already has qualification for Mr. Olympia 2026 in the bag. This gives him the luxury of experimenting with form and posing without undue stress.
However, he will face strong competition on the podium, including Brazil’s Rafael Brandao, who is eager for a rematch after his sixth place finish at the Arnold Classic Ohio.
What’s next for Kriz?
The Slovakian “Mass Monster” is known for his hard work and willingness to share his journey with fans. If he takes the seasoned veteran’s advice to heart and works on the elegance of his speech, the 2026 New York Pro could be the moment when he definitively confirms his belonging to the world’s absolute elite.
