The bodybuilding community has suffered another tragic loss this year. Classic Physique bodybuilder LaMarcus Morris passed away on Dec. 29 at the age of 29. A cause of death has not been revealed at the moment.
Hailing from Talihina, OK, Morris was an exceptional athlete from a young age. He was a standout on the football field, becoming known for his strength and leadership. Morris went onto play football at the University of Central Oklahoma before developing a passion for bodybuilding.
Morris was a strong professional athlete in the IFBB. During his football career, Morris showed incredible dedication in the gym and this helped during his time as a bodybuilder. He also enjoyed helping others build the best version of themselves in the gym. Morris competed at some of the biggest shows of the year, becoming known for his build in Classic Physique.
The bodybuilding community has seen an unfortunate string of deaths this year. Earlier this month, former champion Wang Kun passed away at 30 years old. Kun, who made a huge name for himself in the bodybuilding world, passed away due to an apparent heart problem, according to reports. The official cause of death has not been confirmed just yet. It was said that Kun appeared to be in good health just days before his death.
Just weeks prior, it was reported that IFBB Women’s Physique Pro Jessica Rivera passed away. Rivera put together an impressive bodybuilding career that earned her a Pro Card nearly a decade ago. She became known in Women’s Physique for her impressive conditioning and muscle tone. Rivera was able to become a strong competitor in the division over the course of her career.
The Bodybuilding Career of LaMarcus Morris
LaMarcus Morris was able to turn his passion for athletics and fitness into a successful career.
According to the NPC website, Morris finished in the top three of Classic Physique during the Showdown of Champions in 2020. He earned his first victory at the NPC Heart of Texas the very next year before a third-place finish at the USA Championships in 2022.
Morris was able to make the jump to the IFBB in 2024. His first competition was the Texas Pro, where he finished 11th in Classic Physique. Morris took the stage twice this year. He competed in both the Optimum Classic Pro and Oklahoma Pro, which took place in June.
LaMarcus Morris often shared workout and physique updates, showing his progress in the gym while giving others some tips on different movements. His incredible motivation and dedication to his craft led to where he was in his career and is something that others admired and will remember moving forward.
