Jaylen Reed (181-pound division) and Chris German (165) captured individual Division II powerlifting championships Saturday in Kenner and led the Northwood Falcons to a third-place finish.
The Falcons were edged out of a team state championship by a single point. Lutcher (the champion) and Lakeshore finished tied with 61 points ahead of Northwood’s 60
Reed, anchored by a 630-pound deadlift, dominated his division, winning by 110 points. German built a massive lead with a 540-pound squat, 65 pounds better than the next lifter.
Three other Falcons finished on the podium: Michael Robertson, second in 275-pound division; Parker Stokely third (114); Devon Brooks, third (198).
