Vissers vs. Sommerfeld at Arnold UK 2026

Wesley Vissers came away from the recent Arnold Classic Ohio 2026 with huge satisfaction and a second title. Last year Mike Sommerfeld beat him and took the title from him, while Vissers had to settle for fifth place. But Wesley didn’t slack off in the off-season, worked on his width and fullness of his legs and showed the form of his life in Ohio.

On the other hand, Mike Sommerfeld had to pull out of the Ohio competition at the last minute because he couldn’t fit the weight limit for Classic Physique. Now these two giants will finally stand side by side on the podium in the UK and if Sommerfeld makes the weight this time, it will be a fight that could completely rewrite the top of the division.

Vissers a Sommerfeld

The pressure is on Sommerfeld, Vissers reports

In a recent interview with Beyond the Stage TV Vissers made it clear that he feels no nerves ahead of the British Arnold. He is in his best form and believes he has nothing to lose.

“To be honest, even though I’m defending my Arnold UK title, I don’t have much to lose. After winning these titles, everyone – judges, organisers and people in the industry – tell me that I am in my best form ever,” Vissers revealed. “All I have to do is come in at least as prepared. I can’t change that much from the competition in Detroit, I just want to be a little bit better. I don’t have any pressure on myself, I do it because I enjoy it.”

Weight problems and a dream form?

Vissers also aptly pointed out that Sommerfeld is currently struggling with the category rules, which certainly doesn’t give him any peace of mind.

“Mike is having problems with the weigh-in at the new limit in the first place, which is why he didn’t go to Ohio. He has less time to sugarcoat after the show now. Even at the Olympia, where he made weight, he didn’t look like he did when he won the Arnold Classic in 2025,” Vissers explains, pointing out an important fact: “People keep comparing me to his life form back then. But that comparison is almost impossible, because to look like that, he must have been some three to four kilos more than he was allowed on stage. It’s going to be extremely difficult for him to match that form at all, let alone improve it.”

If Wesley Vissers wins in Britain, he will definitely confirm himself as the undisputed favourite to dethrone reigning Classic Physique Olympia champion Ramon Queiroz, whom he already managed to beat at the Arnold Classic in 2024.

Who do you think will walk away from Birmingham as the winner? Will Vissers confirm his dominance or will Sommerfeld be able to strike back?
