The bodybuilding world is mourning the loss of champion and icon Jason Lowe, who has tragically passed away at the age of 38. His wife Ashley confirmed the heartbreaking news in a poignant social media post.
She shared the devastating news by posting a series of photos capturing their moments together. Known as ‘Broku’, Lowe was famed for his colossal frame and impressive physique, earning him worldwide recognition and acclaim within the fitness and bodybuilding communities.
He made his mark in various competitions from 2015 to 2022, as per the National Physique Committee. However, on 22 January, his grieving wife shared the news of his death on social media.

Ashley posted a collection of pictures of them together and penned: “Today will be the hardest day of my life. I don’t know if words will ever be enough to hold what you meant to me, because they all feel so small in comparison.
“You made me a better version of myself, and you were going to be the absolute best dad. Saying that I’m devastated doesn’t even begin to touch the depth of this loss.”, reports the Mirror.
“I’m sitting here in our backyard writing this in your Olympia jacket, trying to feel close to you, trying to make sense of a world that already feels different without you in it.”
Retired American bodybuilder and former editor of Muscular Development Magazine, Dave Palumbo, has claimed that Lowe was working with a client when he “dropped”. Speaking on the Rx Muscle YouTube channel, Palumbo said: “It is with a heavy heart that I have to report that IFBB Pro Jason Lowe has passed.
“The information I’ve had is that he was training in his gym in his garage, training a client, when he dropped. There obviously has not been an autopsy done, so I don’t really want to report a cause of death.
“I’ve heard rumours about blood clots, but until I get confirmation from his family and until they find out what actually happened, I think it would be foolish to speculate. He obviously was in very good health from what I understand.”
Throughout his career, Lowe competed twice in the prestigious Mr Olympia competition. The Florida native placed 16th in the Men’s Classic Division during his debut appearance, before achieving an 11th place finish in the 212 division the following year.
Known by his nickname ‘Broku’, he also made his mark at the renowned bodybuilding event ‘the Arnold Classic’, securing seventh place in the Men’s Classic Physique across two appearances. His moniker comes from combining ‘Bro’ with Goku, a character from the Dragon Ball Series.
On Instagram, he had amassed over 104,000 followers who were given glimpses into his training regime and personal life. A family friend has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for his wife and family.
WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash paid tribute through social media, writing: “He was so kind, humble. I won’t forget my friend.”
