Bodybuilding champion and global icon Jason Lowe has passed away at just 38 years of age. The devastating news was shared by his wife Ashley through an emotional social media tribute.
She confirmed his death by posting a collection of photographs capturing their life together. Lowe, known by his nickname ‘Broku’, was celebrated for his impressive physique and commanding presence, which brought him international acclaim throughout the fitness and bodybuilding communities.
Between 2015 and 2022, he established his reputation across numerous competitions, as documented by the National Physique Committee. On 22 January, his grieving wife shared the heartbreaking announcement on social media.

Ashley posted several images of the couple and wrote: “Today will be the hardest day of my life. I don’t know if words will ever be enough to hold what you meant to me, because they all feel so small in comparison.
“You made me a better version of myself, and you were going to be the absolute best dad. Saying that I’m devastated doesn’t even begin to touch the depth of this loss.”, reports the Mirror.
“I’m sitting here in our backyard writing this in your Olympia jacket, trying to feel close to you, trying to make sense of a world that already feels different without you in it.”
Retired American bodybuilder and former Muscular Development Magazine editor Dave Palumbo has alleged that Lowe was working with a client when he suddenly collapsed. Speaking on the Rx Muscle YouTube channel, Palumbo stated: “It is with a heavy heart that I have to report that IFBB Pro Jason Lowe has passed.
“The information I’ve had is that he was training in his gym in his garage, training a client, when he dropped. There obviously has not been an autopsy done, so I don’t really want to report a cause of death.
“I’ve heard rumours about blood clots, but until I get confirmation from his family and until they find out what actually happened, I think it would be foolish to speculate. He obviously was in very good health from what I understand.”
Throughout his career, Lowe participated in the prestigious Mr Olympia competition twice. The Florida native secured 16th place in the Men’s Classic Division during his debut appearance, before achieving an improved 11th place finish in the 212 division the subsequent year.
Known by his nickname ‘Broku’ – a combination of ‘Bro’ and Goku from the Dragon Ball series – he also competed in the renowned Arnold Classic bodybuilding event, finishing seventh in the Men’s Classic Physique across two appearances.
His Instagram account attracted more than 104,000 followers, who regularly received updates on his training regime and personal life. A family friend has launched a GoFundMe campaign to provide financial support for his wife and relatives.
WWE hall of famer Kevin Nash expressed his sympathies in a social media post, writing: “He was so kind, humble. I won’t forget my friend.”
