Bodybuilding champion Andrea Lorini was recently found dead in his bed at 48. News of his passing made headlines on Jan. 22, 2026, courtesy of The Sun

According to The Sun, he died of a ‘sudden illness’ that caused cardiac arrest after his mom found his lifeless body in Chiari, northern Italy, last Tuesday (Jan. 20, 2026). His mother, Nadia, immediately called for help after finding him unresponsive. While paramedics tried to revive him, Lorini was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lorini made waves as a standout bodybuilder. He established himself as one of Italy’s most impressive competitors, having earned third-place finishes at national-level IFBB contests in the 90-kilogram category during 2017 and 2019. From physique updates to intense training sessions, he always encouraged fans to reach their full potential inside the gym.

Bodybuilding Champ Andrea Lorini Passes Away at 48

News of his passing circulated online, with the mayor of Chiari honoring his life:

“We feel deep pain over the loss of such a young father, loved by the community and by countless friends who today mourn his passing,” he shared

Initial reports claim that Lorini’s family declined the autopsy. They believe his premature death came from a sudden illness that caused cardiac arrest. His passing comes following the tragic demise of ‘Brazilian Popeye,’ Arlindo de Souza. He was made famous for his use of synthol and site enhancement oils in his biceps.

Just three days after Lorini’s death, it was revealed that the popular IFBB Pro Jason Lowe lost his life at just 38. As of this writing, the cause of death has not been shared. Nevertheless, the concerning trend has raised alarms; Lee Haney, a former eight-time Mr. Olympia winner, believes deaths are on the rise, especially for younger competitors. He added that athletes in the IFBB Pro League are destroying their kidneys and causing possible heart attacks.

This sentiment was also shared by bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger. He emphasized that the sport has become dangerous and kills people

“Sometimes they are taking drugs that are damaging for their health and are making them so strong that the tendons and bones were not meant for that weight, so then it gets into a really dangerous situation,” Schwarzenegger said.

Lorini was a beloved member of the Italian bodybuilding scene. He leaves behind two children. Our team at Fitness Volt wishes his friends and family strength and resilience during this difficult time.
