She lost to Canada’s Mayo Ameli and New Zealand’s Roshelle Jessop, who won gold and silver respectively.

Also representing the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPLF) at the championships were Mohamed Wazim and Bjorn Williams.

GAPLF President Paul Meusa praised Taharally’s medal-winning effort, describing it as a moment of pride for the federation and the country.

“Nadina’s bronze medal-winning performance was quite an amazing one. It was one of true grit and determination. This is the highest level of powerlifting in the world, and she came out here and showed the world how Guyanese can get it done despite all the odds. We are so proud of her.”

Looking ahead, Musa said the federation is now eager to see the performance of Franklin Brisport in the equipped category. “We’re expecting some medals from him in the equipped version Nevertheless, all in all, our guys performed really well. Bjorn and Wazim both did exceptionally well”.
