Over 1,000 athletes expected for World Bodybuilding Champ…


Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Emirates Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation, expressed his delight at the UAE hosting the upcoming World Bodybuilding Championship, scheduled to take place at Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah in June 2026.

He emphasised that the organising committee is committed to delivering an exceptional and flawless edition of the championship, highlighting Fujairah’s leadership in hosting world-class sporting events thanks to its world-class infrastructure.

Sheikh Abdullah confirmed that preparations have already begun well in advance to ensure the UAE is fully ready ahead of the competition.

This announcement coincided with a visit from the Executive Office of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) to inspect the venue and ongoing preparations.

The delegation was led by Dietmar Wolf, Vice President of the International Powerlifting Federation, Farshid Soltani, President of the Asian Powerlifting Federation. 

The UAE was represented by Mohamed Obaid Bin Majid, Director General of Fujairah Department of Industry and Economy, Mohammed Abdul Rahim Al Marri, Secretary-General of the UAE Federation, Faisal Al Ghais Al Zaabi, Board Member and World Bodybuilding Champion, Mohammed Bin Nasser, Ministry of Sport representative for the Eastern Region, and Technical Secretary Abdelmajid Yezbek.

The IPF delegation awarded full marks to Fujairah for its readiness to host the World Bodybuilding Championship 2026, praising the UAE Federation’s vision and efforts in organizing the event.

Farshad Soltani also commended the outstanding infrastructure of Zayed Sports Complex, noting that the event is expected to feature over 1,000 athletes from 146 countries, and expressed his ambition to host the Asian Championship in the UAE in 2027.

IPF Vice President highlighted that hosting the championship in the UAE will be a significant milestone in the growth of bodybuilding, recognizing Fujairah’s excellent facilities and the UAE federation’s meticulous preparation for the global event.

Commenting on the visit, Mohammed Al Marri, Secretary-General of the UAE Federation, stated: “We aim for the 2026 World Championship to be exceptional in every aspect. With our organizational experience, having previously hosted the World Championship and two Asian Championships in Dubai, we are confident in our ability to deliver a world-class event. The IPF has placed great trust in the Emirates Federation’s capacity to organize a flawless edition of the championship.”
