Speeding up before the competition
These days, the training atmosphere at the Hanoi Bodybuilding and Fitness team is intense. Athletes maintain high intensity, focusing on perfecting their physique, improving their technique, and enhancing their performance. Given the nature of this sport , performance depends not only on strength and muscle mass but also on body proportions, definition, balance, and stage presence. This is also the time when athletes must strictly adhere to a diet, rest, and lifestyle regimen to reach peak performance at the right time for competition.
According to Dang Van Tinh, head of the Bodybuilding and Fitness department at Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center, the team participating in this year’s Games consists of 24 members, including 6 coaches and 18 athletes, competing in 11 events. The team’s goal is to win at least 2 gold medals and strive to be among the top 5 leading units.
According to Mr. Dang Van Tinh, Ho Chi Minh City has been a major competitor to Hanoi in Bodybuilding and Fitness for many years. Notably, this year, Ho Chi Minh City has also joined forces with a strong team from Binh Duong province, making the medal race even more difficult. Therefore, the coaching staff has determined that they must accurately assess the balance of power, focus on competitive events, and maximize the strengths of each athlete.
Coach Ta Dinh Thai of the Hanoi Bodybuilding and Fitness team said that, recognizing the Games as a crucial event in the four-year cycle, the team has proactively prepared thoroughly, paying particular attention to nutrition, training conditions, and physical care for the athletes. “We strive to create the best conditions for the athletes to train, ensuring a proper diet and nutrition. The coaching staff also regularly monitors and adjusts training plans to suit each athlete, aiming for high achievements at the Games,” Coach Ta Dinh Thai shared.

During preparation, resistance training exercises aimed at muscle development are combined with fitness exercises to enhance flexibility, agility, and body control. This is a crucial method that helps athletes both improve their physique and enhance their performance quality. Athlete Le Thi Huong Giang stated that team members are always encouraged to maintain daily training, constantly improving their technique and physique. Combining resistance training with flexibility exercises helps athletes develop muscles harmoniously, improving their mobility and body control.
Alongside experienced athletes, the Hanoi Bodybuilding and Fitness team also includes young athletes who aspire to prove themselves in the biggest arena of high-performance sports in the country.
Athlete Nguyen Van Thanh, participating in the National Sports Games for the first time, couldn’t hide his nervousness and excitement. “This is a major tournament, held only once every four years, bringing together many high-quality athletes. I’m really looking forward to competing and aiming for a gold medal. I will try my best to achieve the best possible result,” Nguyen Van Thanh expressed.
The serious preparation and determined spirit of the team members are creating a foundation for the Hanoi Bodybuilding and Fitness team to confidently enter the competition. Although the set goal is not easy, the whole team is determined to strive in every training session and make the most of every opportunity in each competition.
Leverage strengths, find opportunities for breakthroughs.
Evaluating the bodybuilding movement in Hanoi, the Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation, Nguyen Hong Minh, noted that Hanoi is one of the pioneering locations with a widespread movement and attracts a large number of trainees. However, the number of elite athletes remains small, partly due to limitations in investment and development in previous periods.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, in the last 5 years, with the attention of Hanoi’s sports leaders, the sport has seen positive changes, with athletes reaching continental and world-class levels. This is a sign of the potential for development of bodybuilding in the capital city if invested in the right direction.

One notable opportunity lies in the development of modern fitness content. While previously, bodybuilding primarily focused on building large muscle mass, the global trend has now expanded to emphasize a balanced, toned, and harmonious physique, combining strength with flexibility and agility.
Expert Nguyen Hong Minh believes that this trend not only aligns with the community’s health training needs but also opens up opportunities for Hanoi to gain an advantage in high-performance competitions. While in traditional bodybuilding events, Hanoi’s athletes still struggle to compete with strong teams from the South, the new Fitness events can help Hanoi narrow the gap and create a more balanced competition for medals.
This is also the direction that the sport needs to focus on in the future: maintaining traditional content while expanding the training of fitness athletes, gradually building a force with depth to meet the development trends of modern sports.
According to Dang Van Tinh, Head of the Bodybuilding and Fitness Department of Hanoi, the Hanoi Bodybuilding and Fitness team is focusing its efforts on events where it has the potential to win medals, leveraging the experience of its key athletes and the enthusiasm of its younger members. The goal of winning two or more gold medals is challenging, especially given the thorough preparation of its competitors. However, the pressure of competition is also the motivation for the Hanoi bodybuilders to push their limits.
With thorough preparation, a spirit of unity, and high determination, the Hanoi Bodybuilding and Fitness team is ready to enter the competition, aiming for well-deserved achievements and contributing to the overall goals of the Hanoi Sports Delegation at the 10th National Games.
