Can a Fresh Hadi Choopan Dethrone Nick Walker in Columbus?

On Episode 306 of The Menace Podcast, host Dennis James was joined by Milos Sarcev and Chris Cormier, and with Hadi Choopan missing the 2026 Olympia final due to travel restrictions, the Iranian icon has an opportunity to make a huge statement at the 2027 Arnold Classic by beating the current Mr. Olympia, Nick Walker. But how can he make the most of this chance?

“I think this is going to be a show between Hadi and Nick,” said host Dennis James, noting that he felt Andrew Jacked might suffer on stage because he has competed frequently, and could perhaps benefit from a break “Nick’s proved that he can be in shape, show after show, after show,” added The Menace while discussing Walker’s current dominance. James also said that Samson Dauda may or may not bring a great physique to Columbus, while Derek Lunsford is unlikely to participate at all. So, with $750k up for grabs, James felt that Hadi Choopan could be Walker’s biggest obstacle to another big win.

Hadi Choopan Must Be Mentally Prepared, to Beat Nick Walker

The panel also discussed a recent Instagram update from Hadi Choopan that revealed his latest progress, and while The Persian Wolf is looking to be in almost peak condition, Chris Cormier pointed out that Choopan may also be feeling better now that he’s dealt with the disappointment of missing the Olympia final. “It’s not just the time, think about the mental stuff behind what he went through,” he observed.

Milos Sarcev, who is Hadi Choopan’s coach, explained that Choopan would be seeking to get his travel authorization cleared 90 days in advance of The Arnold on March 4, 2027, so that he makes it into the United States with plenty of time to prep. He also pointed out that getting his bodybuilders into the country early was an important strategy, because it takes time for athletes to settle in. “You can’t kill them” right away, explained The Mind of the time needed before he can really work his athletes hard in the gym.

“If I was Nick, I would be very worried about Hadi, because Hadi is fresh,” said Dennis James of the 2022 Mr. Olympia winner. “Unless Hadi comes in, off.”
