An official cause of death has been released for personal trainer Elena Moore, who was found dead at 39 years old.
The South Carolina personal trainer and bodybuilder was found dead in South Carolina earlier this summer. She was last seen at a Planet Fitness in Lexington, about 14 miles outside of Columbia. She was then seen heading toward a nearby Lowe’s Home Improvement store on the night of June 11.
Days later, her body was found on June 17, “with neighbors reporting that she’d been exhibiting strange behavior in the week leading up to her disappearance,” the New York Post reported.
Authorities have since announced that Moore died from heart problems following a “full mental crisis,” according to the coroner. She officially died from a cardiac dysrhythmia with premature ventricular contractions, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher revealed. Police have said that there were no signs of any suspicious activity or potential homicide.
Moore was originally from Russia before getting adopted by parents in the United States. She grew up with an irregular heartbeat.
Moore was diagnosed with anxiety and ADHD earlier this year. However, according to reports, she did not see a psychiatrist. She also had reportedly been told to wear a heart monitor leading up to her death.
“In the lead-up to her death, Moore was first reported missing on June 5 and was found after a 911 call, sitting on a curb, complaining of chest pains and in an ‘altered mental state,’ Fisher said. She had been pretending to be a DoorDash delivery worker and was taken to ER, the coroner said,” the New York Post added.
An autopsy found no evidence of sexual assault or other traumatic physical injury.
Our thoughts continue to be with her friends and family members during this difficult time. May she rest in peace.
