Joey Swoll remains upbeat after another heart scare saw him rushed to hospital on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026. Fortunately, the social media influencer said that he is “doing better” in an update on October 6.
Swoll, whose real name is Joey Sergo, shot to fame with his analysis of various gym scenarios, blasting attention seekers who attempt to entrap other members to star in their videos for engagement, and serving up his own style of gym justice while encouraging the use of gymnasiums as a positive space for making a brave change.
The news of Swoll’s latest heart issue comes after he was diagnosed with “generic irregularities” in January 2023. He received corrective surgery back then, but required emergency care in April 2024 after part of a medical tool was left in body, forcing the bodybuilder and cultural commentator to undergo a six-hour operation to save his life. At that time, news of Swoll’s suffering drew support from his legions of fans, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and seven-time Olympia 212 Champion, Flex Lewis.

While Sergo did not elaborate on the specifics of his current predicament, he did share that “It’s been a rough few days,” in the Oct. 6 Instagram update for his 5.5 million Instagram followers. “I’m still here, but doing better. Please send love and prayers.”
This wish was of course granted, with former Olympia champions Brandon Curry, Dexter Jackson, Derek Lunsford, Phil Heath, and Jay Cutler sending their best wishes, along with strongman, Luke Stoltman, and countless fans. “Get well soon, you got this,” wrote one follower, while another added “I’ll keep you in my prayers.”
