Laitonjam Rishikanta crowned ‘Champion of Champions’ at 58th Asian Bodybuilding C’ships – The Sangai Express

IMPHAL, Sep 27 : Manipur’s Laitonjam Rishikanta has scripted history by winning both the Senior Bodybuilding gold medal and the prestigious ‘Champion of Champions’ (overall champion) title at the 58th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship.
Rishikanta, who trains at the United Gym in Naoremthong, has become the very first Manipuri bodybuilder to secure the overall champion title at an international event.
His historic victory adds to an illustrious career that already includes winning the Junior Mr Asia and Junior Mr World titles in 2017.
He is the son of Laitonjam Manoj and Indira Devi of Patsoi Part IV Makha Leikai, and is married to Sanju Devi of Kongba Uchekon.
Manipur athletes’ stellar run at the continental event in Bangkok continued with brilliant performances from Pritam Nahakpam and Leishangthem Sarita.
Pritam Nahakpam clinched a gold medal in the Junior Men’s up to 75 kg category.
The son of Nahakpam Ibungo and Mema from Kumbi IB Road, Pritam trains at the Khongbu Manga Fitness Centre.
Alongside various local championship titles, Pritam also recently won a gold medal at the 2nd Mr Northeast Bodybuilding & Physique Championship 2026 held in Kohima.
Meanwhile, Leishangthem Sarita secured a silver medal in the Women’s up to 55 kg category.
Sarita, who trains at Royal Fitness Academy in Thoubal, is the daughter of Leishangthem Keshoram and Nganbi Devi of Thoubal Wangmataba College Leirak.
The All Manipur Body Builders’ Association also extended congratulations to all the athletes on their achievements.
