Ms. Olympia 2026: Shaw Sets Out to Defend Her Title

Friday morning in Las Vegas’s South Hall belonged to the most massive female bodybuilders on the planet. The Ms. Olympia division, which has a rich history within the competition dating back to 1980, has enjoyed enormous popularity since its revival in 2020 (when Olympia owner Jake Wood reinstated it) and features incredibly close competition.

The eyes of all fans and experts were fixed primarily on Andrea Shaw, who has reigned supreme in this category and has remained undefeated on stage since 2020. However, as the semifinal pre-judging revealed, the level of the competitors is constantly rising.

Andrea Shaw and Her Phenomenal Physique

Andrea Shaw confirmed her status as the clear favorite. In the crucial final round, she displayed perfect symmetry and form. Her greatest strength was her outstanding back pose—she displayed deeply separated glutes and a truly top-notch transition from glutes to hamstrings. This detail gave her the final “polish” that set her apart from the rest of the field. Shaw also appeared very relaxed, a state of mind surely aided by her recent victory at the Rising Phoenix competition. Her transitions between poses were fluid and confident.

The Competition Isn’t Sleeping: Barros, Jones, and Ranta

Despite the champion’s dominance, a fierce battle is being waged for the medal positions. Last year’s runner-up, Ashley Lynnette Jones, and the 2025 bronze medalist, Leyvina Rodrigues Barros, arrived in Las Vegas with a clear goal—to dethrone Andrea Shaw.

Leyvina Rodrigues Barros displayed impressive muscularity on stage and managed to put up a very close fight against the reigning queen in the compulsory poses. Ashley Lynnette Jones, on the other hand, boasted an outstanding overall package, which kept her right in the thick of the action the entire time. Paula Ranta became a huge surprise and the crowd’s favorite. This competitor built up great momentum on stage and heads into the finals with a strong chance at a top finish.

The judges were fairly quick to identify the top contenders. The field was divided into two preliminary rounds, followed by a final callout of the best competitors.
