Olympia 2026: The Battle in the Classic Physique Division

Friday’s program in Las Vegas continued with a category that embodies the golden age of bodybuilding—Classic Physique. After Brazilian Ramon Dino became the new champion last year, a tough title defense was expected this year. And the prejudging left us in no doubt: the challengers, led by Mike Sommerfeld and Wesley Vissers, came ready to steal the medals!

Ramon Dino Defends His Throne with a New Back

Reigning champion Ramon Dino arrived at the Olympia well-rested and with a clear goal—to retain the Sandow Statue. Head judge Steve Weinberger gave him a clear task last year: improve the width and definition of his back. And the Brazilian listened! Dino brought a visibly wider and more massive back to the stage, clearly asserting his dominance and confirming that he has no intention of letting anyone take his title.

Sommerfeld and Vissers Are Stepping on the Gas

The biggest threat to Dino this year is once again the German powerhouse Mike Sommerfeld, who took silver last year. Mike worked on his volume and presented himself as even fuller and rounder than a year ago.

Dutch phenomenon Wesley Vissers, winner of this year’s Arnold Classic, naturally brought his famous “Golden Era” look, but he, too, managed to gain overall fullness. He looked massive on stage and made it clear that the judges must count him among the top contenders.

The Darwen Sensation

But Niall Darwen caused the biggest stir in Las Vegas. This British talent absolutely stunned the audience when he confidently fought his way into the final call, and at certain moments even claimed the position right in the center of the stage. The top five were then rounded out by the aesthetic wizard Terrence Ruffin, with his flawless physique.
