BINGHAMTON N.Y. (WBNG) – Briana Boardman, a local personal trainer at the Riverwalk Athletic Club, is set to represent the United States at the Bench Press World Championships this October in Iceland.
Boardman became a professional powerlifter with USA Powerlifting (USAPL) and the International Drug-free Powerlifting Association (IDFPA) in 2024. This year, she received an invitation to join the USA Powerlifting National Bench Press Team.
“It is a huge honor to have the opportunity to represent the United States, New York State and to compete alongside the best benchers in the world,” said Boardman.
She is currently the record holder for the bench press in her age and weight class from New York State and the Northeastern Region. Boardman hopes to break the American record next month, which is 204 pounds.
Boardman launched a GoFundMe campaign to finance her journey.
“I truly appreciate the community’s encouragement and support,” said Boardman. All funds received will go toward my registration, travel, food and preparation expenses for my trip to Iceland.”
