Nebo — (WLOS) One of the most dominant powerlifting teams in the country added another line to its resume. Travis Rinnert, 53, became the sixth member of Team Nebo Barbell to earn enshrinement into the 365 Strong North Carolina Powerlifting Hall of Fame last week.
Rinnert is among the five inductees who are still active on the team, joining team founder Joey Smith, his wife Melissa Smith, Anika Harper, and Katy Silvers.
“When we do stuff we try to go all in,” Rinnert said. “We try not to do anything halfway and so when you reach something like that, it’s an honor. Couldn’t have done it without Joey and the team behind me. We’re only as good as the people around us.”
Rinnert has personal records of 733lbs on squat, 606.2lbs on bench press, and a deadlift of 556.6lbs.
“He’s somenody that I can depend on; a lot of people can depend on Travis,” Joey Smith praised of Rinnert, who regularly serves as the “hand-off” during training sessions where he spots directly behind the lifter. “He’s a great human being and he wasn’t just given this. He’s been in the trenches, he’s been in the gym, he’s been putting in the work.”
Rinnert will be recognized during weekend festivities at the World Powerlifting Games 2026, which are being held in Charlotte.
