Four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler Releasing Autobiography Later This Year
Four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler is preparing to tell his full story. More than a decade after stepping away from competitive bodybuilding, Cutler announced that his official autobiography is expected to be released at the end of 2026, promising to reveal the deeper stories behind his career, business success, and the mindset that helped make him one of bodybuilding’s biggest icons.
The 53-year-old explained why he believes now is the right time to put his life into a book. While fans know Cutler for his legendary battles on the Olympia stage and his success after retirement, he says there is much more to the story that has never been told publicly.
Jay Cutler Says Fans Will Be “Shocked” By How He Built His Empire
Cutler discussed the upcoming autobiography in a recent social media update, explaining that the book will go beyond his contest history.
“People would be shocked on how I built my empire, a lot of the strategic moves I made or the mindset that, you know, it took to actually go out there and compete.”
Cutler also wants to explore the emotional side of his career, something he believes was largely hidden during his years as one of bodybuilding’s biggest stars.
“The emotions I went through because I never really got to speak of the emotions being magazine guy and then, you know, transitioning into social media.”
That transition gives Cutler a particularly interesting story to tell. He became a superstar during an era when bodybuilding magazines were one of the primary ways athletes built their brands, before successfully carrying his popularity into YouTube, podcasts and social media.
Cutler Wants To Tell The Stories Fans Have Never Heard
Cutler believes fans may know the basic outline of his journey, but not necessarily what happened behind the scenes or what fueled his pursuit of greatness.
“A lot of people know a little bit about my background, but they don’t know the deep stories of, you know, what drove me to be the best.”
Few bodybuilding careers offer as much material. Cutler finished runner-up to Ronnie Coleman at the Mr. Olympia four times before finally defeating the eight-time champion in 2006. He successfully defended the title in 2007, lost to Dexter Jackson in 2008, then produced one of the sport’s greatest comeback stories by reclaiming the Sandow in 2009. Cutler won his fourth and final Olympia title in 2010.
His rivalry with Coleman helped define an era, while his 2009 comeback cemented his place in bodybuilding history as the first man to regain the Mr. Olympia title after losing it.
Cutler eventually made his final competitive appearance at the 2013 Mr. Olympia, where he finished sixth.
“Now Is The Time”
Beyond bodybuilding, Cutler has built an extensive business portfolio and remained one of the sport’s most visible retired champions. He said inspiring others has become an important part of what he wants to accomplish at this stage of his life.
“My whole outlook now is to just inspire people and push people beyond what you can imagine. So, you know, for me, I wanted to put this all into this book project.”
The autobiography is currently scheduled to arrive at the end of 2026. Cutler has also opened a pre-launch list for fans interested in getting early access to the book.
After more than three decades in bodybuilding, Cutler has experienced virtually every side of the industry, from chasing Coleman during one of the most dominant reigns in Olympia history to becoming champion himself and eventually building a successful post-bodybuilding brand. Now, fans will get the opportunity to hear that story directly from Cutler.
