Ryan Terry has escaped a disaster that almost cut his 2026 Olympia prep short. In a September 3 post, he revealed he was nearly forced out of the Olympia due to an undisclosed injury. Despite the setback, Terry recently showcased a shredded physique update three weeks from stepping onstage.
Ryan Terry took over the Men’s Physique Olympia throne in 2023 after defeating Erin Banks. Each season, he’s showcased significant improvements to his physique, from sharper triceps and a slimmer waist to a denser back. These strengths have allowed him to maintain his reign and were on full display during last year’s title defense.
Terry captains arguably the most competitive division in the IFBB Pro League. The Men’s Physique Olympia title picture runs deep; plenty of contenders stand out, including Ali Bilal, Brandon Hendrickson, and Kyron Holden. Holden is surging thanks to his win over Bilal at the Pittsburgh Pro.
Given the upset victory, bodybuilders believe Holden could replicate the performance in Vegas. Already, Men’s Open stars like Nick Walker have predicted that Holden will defeat Terry when they meet onstage. However, Terry won’t let outside noise or an injury scare stop him from making history. Should he claim another Olympia victory, he’ll tie Jeremy Buendia’s record of four titles.

In the post, Terry shared that an undisclosed injury nearly forced him out of the 2026 Olympia. If he missed the contest, it would be the first time in his career that he ended a prep early.
“Been a challenging past few weeks to say the least with an injury that I thought was quite possibly going to stop me from competing this year… which would have been the first time not completing a prep since starting my competing career in 2010.”
He admitted that the struggle opened his eyes to how badly he wants to claim his fourth consecutive Olympia title:
“The one thing going through such hardship and facing the realisation of not finishing something you put your heart and soul into makes you realise how badly you want it and how determined you are to get it … little over three weeks out and firing on all cylinders now 🔥 let’s go and make history 🔥👊🏼⭕️ #beundeniable,” Ryan Terry shared via Instagram.
Terry isn’t just chasing another gold trophy. He’s made it clear that his legacy is on the line, with hopes of tying Buendia’s record to solidify himself as the ‘GOAT’ of the Men’s Physique division. Having won the Arnold Classic and Pittsburgh Pro before, he believes one more Olympia title gives him the edge over Buendia.
Time will tell if the injury negatively impacts Terry’s physique onstage. The 2026 Mr. Olympia takes place September 24-27 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
