Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) – Sports Service: The 10th round of the powerlifting selection competition without equipment ended in Kabul after four days of competition among 140 athletes from 13 provinces of the country, with the introduction of the top athletes.
These competitions were held in the age categories of teenagers, youth, adults and experienced athletes and in different weights from 53 to 120 kilograms.
At the end of these competitions, 95 athletes were selected for the national powerlifting team and 14 other athletes to participate in future international competitions.
In the team section, Kabul province won first place, Herat second place and Ghor third place.
Also in the age categories, Matin Shirinsokhn from among the teenagers, Mansoor Mosaddeq in the youth category, Fawad Shirinsokhn in the adult category, and Noor Ahmad Tajak in the experienced athletes category won first places.
These competitions were held with the aim of identifying and selecting members of the national powerlifting team and selecting top athletes to participate in international competitions.
In the end, belts, medals, and certificates of appreciation were awarded to the top athletes.
Powerlifting selection competitions are one of the important programs of the federation of this discipline to identify talents, select top athletes, and prepare the national team to participate in international competitions. Holding this round of competitions with the participation of athletes from 13 provinces has provided the basis for competition among powerlifting athletes and selecting top figures to represent Afghanistan in future competitions.
