With the 2026 bodybuilding season coming to a close, new rule changes are taking effect. On September 2, the IFBB Pro League revealed its new 2027 Mr. Olympia qualification system for its 12 divisions.
In the update, the IFBB Pro League said the changes apply to the Classic Physique, Men’s Physique, Bikini, and Wellness divisions. Instead of the top 25 in point standings, only the top 20 from the aforementioned divisions will earn an Olympia qualification. Competitors who manage to win two contests during the season will earn an automatic qualification. Finishing in the top three at the Olympia remains a viable route as well.
Meanwhile, the Men’s Open, Men’s 212 Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure, Women’s Physique, Women’s Bodybuilding, and Fit Model qualification system remains the same. Athletes who placed in the top three at last year’s event qualify for the 2027 Mr. Olympia. Additionally, the winner of each contest will automatically qualify. In Women’s Bodybuilding, competitors can also qualify by earning a top-three spot at the Rising Phoenix Pro.
As for Men’s Wheelchair, contest winners and the top three 2026 Olympia finishers automatically qualify. Beyond those contenders, the top three in the points standings will earn passage. Find a breakdown of the rules below:

The 2027 OQS starts on August 31, 2026, and ends on September 12, 2027.
For Classic Physique, Men’s Physique, Bikini, and Wellness, competitors can earn instant qualifications for Olympia by winning one of the following shows:
- Arnold Classic Ohio
- Pittsburgh Pro
- New York Pro
- Romania Muscle Fest Pro
- Dubai Pro
These events also offer a different point structure, which you can find below:
- 1st – Automatic Qualification
- 2nd – 14 points
- 3rd – 11 points
- 4th – 9 points
- 5th – 7 points

Important Notes to Keep in Mind
- Former Olympia winners have lifetime eligibility. However, after five years have passed since their last Olympia, approval from the IFBB Pro League is required.
- All winners at the 2026 Ben Weider Naturals Pro (Outside of Men’s Open, Men’s 212 Bodybuilding, and Women’s Bodybuilding) qualify for the 2027 Mr. Olympia
- Ties in point standings are broken using contest tiers and competitor placings.
- Athletes are responsible for monitoring their own point standings.
