Shock! Hadi Choopan Will Skip Mr. Olympia 2026

Bodybuilding fans have received devastating news. “The Persian Wolf” and 2022 champion, Hadi Choopan, will not be competing in the most prestigious Mr. Olympia competition for the first time in seven years. The reason is not health issues, but insurmountable visa complications.

The bodybuilding event of the year, Mr. Olympia 2026, which takes place September 24–27 in Las Vegas, has lost one of its biggest favorites. The Men’s Open competitor has officially confirmed that he will not be competing in this year’s event, thereby fundamentally altering the balance of power on stage.

A Revoked Visa and Dashed Hopes

The political situation and bureaucratic hurdles are to blame. In his statement, Choopan revealed that his ten-year “Golden Visa” to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was unexpectedly revoked. Hadi traditionally went through the UAE to navigate the complex process of obtaining a U.S. visa.

“On Wednesday afternoon, I arrived at the airport in Shiraz to fly directly to Dubai. I was not allowed to board. I was informed that my ten-year Golden Visa to the UAE had been revoked,” Choopan explained.

He then tried to fly out of Tehran, but with the same result. Due to the current political situation and restrictions, he was simply denied entry into the Emirates.

A Difficult Decision, but the Fight Isn’t Over

Given the time constraints and enormous psychological pressure, Hadi decided to end his journey toward this year’s Mr. Olympia. As he himself states, he doesn’t want to go to such a competition just to “make up the numbers”—if he stands on the podium, he must be in the best shape of his life.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to withdraw from Mr. Olympia 2026. Continuing to train under such stress and uncertainty would not allow me to prepare mentally and physically to compete for the title,” Choopan said emotionally to his fans.

At the same time, however, he assured everyone that he is definitely not throwing in the towel:

“This decision hurts deeply, but it’s not the end. I will continue to train, improve, and fight. When Hadi Choopan returns to the stage, he will return to win.”

Who will benefit from Choopan’s absence?

The absence of one of today’s best-prepared competitors opens the door for other elite bodybuilders. Nick “The Mutant” Walker, in particular, could benefit from Choopan’s absence; he possesses similarly brutal muscle hardness and could thus significantly improve his ranking this year.

The overall dynamics on stage will also change. Shorter competitors with massive muscle mass, led by Derek Lunsford, will have to go head-to-head with towering giants like Samson Dauda and Andrew Jacked. Names like Martin Fitzwater, Behrooz Tabani, Tonio Burton, and our Slovak giant Michal Križánek will also have a chance to break into the absolute top tier.

Despite this major loss, this year’s Mr. Olympia promises to be an incredible spectacle. The question remains: who will capitalize on the absence of the “Persian Wolf” and snag some valuable extra points for themselves?

The road back to the top isn’t just about hard training

You can have genetics like Hadi Choopan and train with the utmost intensity. But the truth is that lifting heavy weights is only half the equation. Hadi himself mentions one absolutely crucial point in his statement: if you’re not 100% preparedboth physically and mentally—there’s no point in stepping onto the stage (or under a heavy barbell) at all.

But such a performance requires a body that’s ready to deliver 100 percent results. To get the absolute most out of every drop of sweat in the gym and not lose progress due to stress or fatigue, you need the right support.

As soon as unexpected obstacles crop up in life—whether it’s bureaucracy at the airport, like what happened to Choopan, or just an extremely demanding day at work—your motivation and energy can plummet. For those days when you’re feeling under the weather, a comprehensive pre-workout supplement with caffeine can help—it’ll snap you out of your lethargy, get blood flowing to your muscles, and push you to give even the toughest set your all.

But we mustn’t forget the most important thing—recovery. Stress, lack of rest, and intense workouts take a massive toll on both the central nervous system and your muscles. And once you’re done with a tough workout? Torn muscle fibers need immediate fuel for recovery so they can come back bigger and stronger—exactly as the “Persian Wolf” plans.

High-quality whey protein immediately after a workout stops muscle breakdown, and if you add a scoop of creatine to your shaker, you’ll ensure your muscles gain the right hardness and fullness. Champions like Hadi Choopan leave nothing to chance and know that the body is a functioning machine that needs the best possible care during tough times. Prepare for your next workout so that you can turn every obstacle into an opportunity for further growth.
