The powerlifter squatted 220kg, pressed 152.5kg on the bench, beating his old mark of 145kg. In the deadlift, he carried 255kg, beating his previous best of 250kg. Dhawan topped his prior personal record of 615kg by 12.5kg, marking 627.5kg as the new record. India has won two gold medals and one silver medal in the sub-categories at the IPF Sub Junior and Junior Classic and Equipped Powerlifting World Championships 2026 in South Africa.
The Republic of South Africa took a double podium finish with a silver medal and a bronze medal at the IPF Sub Junior and Junior Classic and Equipped Powerlifting World Championships 2026 in South Africa. Ernst Britz won a silver medal with a total lift of 537.5kg, and his teammate Jordan Fine won a bronze medal with a total lift of 430kg.
