Bodybuilder Dwayne Quamina, better known as King Q, died on Sunday − as tributes continue to pour in for the hardcore athlete, who was described as a “devoted father”
Tributes have poured in for a bodybuilder after his sudden death at the age of just 40. It came just weeks after he uploaded a chilling social media post asking his followers to seize the day.
Dwayne Quamina, better known as King Q, was a beloved member of the bodybuilding world, who would regularly show off his veiny muscles for followers on his fitness journey. He was also a former member of the US Navy, having served his country for years.
But on Sunday (August 16), it was revealed that the star had suddenly passed away, with the cause of death not yet known. Fans have now gone through his social media posts, and discovered a harrowing upload published just weeks before his death.
Muscleman Dwayne’s death was confirmed on Thursday (August 20) with tributes coming from fans and fellow bodybuilders who looked to him for inspiration. Investigations are now ongoing into what could have caused Dwayne’s death.
Just last month, Dwayne shared a heartbreaking post to his social media profiles. Including a snap of himself, he penned in the caption: “Stop taking life for granted − go all the way and have zero regrets when it’s all over!”
Flaunting his pumped muscles and hardcore workout routines, Dwayne had racked up a huge following on his accounts. On his Instagram account, Dwayne boasted an impressive 114,000 followers at the time of his death.
Only days ago, Dwayne had been taking part in the Atlanta Pro bodybuilding tournament, where he ultimately finished in sixth place. Writing on his profile, he said: “If it was easy, everybody would do it.
“The best quality you can have is the ability to pick yourself up and go again no matter how many times it take. Watch what comes next!”
Fans had grown to love the star as he documented his rise to the top of the competitive bodybuilding scene. Back in 2018, he even managed to score a respectable tenth place at the Mr Olympia competition, reserved for the world’s biggest and best bodybuilders.
But outside of his life as a bodybuilder, Dwayne also had a respectful life, having served in the Navy for ten years before leaving to become a muscleman. He is now survived by wife Leah, and his two children.
Tributes have poured in, with one user saying his death has left an “unimaginable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him”. One of his co-stars, Lenda Murray penned: “My thoughts and prayers are for the family. Sincere condolences.”
