A BELOVED bodybuilder and Navy veteran has died aged 40 – just weeks after telling fans to “stop taking life for granted”.
Dwayne Quamina, known as “King Q”, passed away suddenly on Sunday as tributes pour in for the “devoted father and proud veteran”.
The cause of death is not yet known.
The famed muscleman served in the US Navy for ten years before becoming a bodybuilder in 2016.
In a now hauntingly poignant message, he told fans last month: “Stop taking life for granted go all the way and have zero regrets when it’s all over!”
The muscleman posted workout videos and motivational content to his more than 114,000 Instagram followers.
Just five days ago – after coming sixth in the Atlanta Pro competition, he wrote: “‘If it was easy, everybody would do it. The best quality you can have is the ability to pick yourself up and go again no matter how many times it take. Watch what comes next!”
In 2018 he finished tenth place in the Mr Olympia tournament – a contest for the world’s greatest bodybuilders.
Dwayne, from Trinidad and Tobago, worked as an online coach alongside his competitions.
He leaves behind his wife, Leah, and two children.
Tributes have poured in for the father, with one saying his loss left an “unimaginable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him”.
Lenda Murray, who won Ms Olympia eight times, posted: “My thoughts and prayers are for the family. Sincere condolences.”
Another fellow bodybuilder Karol Malecki Ale Lekkie said: “It’s absolutely tragic. We competed together just a week ago at the Atlanta Pro. It’s hard to believe he’s gone.”
A GoFundMe set up to support the family described Quamina as “a devoted father, a loving husband, a loyal friend, a proud veteran, and a fitness champion who inspired those around him through his strength, dedication, and determination.”
“Dwayne was a loving yet fierce man, someone who protected and provided for his family while uplifting others with his presence, kindness, and unwavering spirit.”
