Patrick Moore has finally found his jackpot and is headed to the Olympia final after winning the IFBB Texas Pro in Irving on August 14. Moore’s Open division victory was one of ten hotly contested categories, as the road to the industry’s biggest show draws near.
With only around five weeks to go, Patrick Moore has punched his ticket for a spot in the Open division and a chance to claim the coveted Sandow trophy after a tenacious campaign that saw the Houston born athlete take in nine shows before finally turning the judges’ heads in Texas. Moore’s story is even more emotional, because an Achillies injury in 2022 forced the big man to go under the knife, fueling rumors that his best days might be behind him. While Moore had last competed on the Olympia stage in 2021, 2026 has seen a return to form that has facilitated another shot at the Mr. Olympia title.
How Patrick Moore Secured His 2026 Mr. Olympia Qualification
In a dramatic turn of events, Moore forced Regan Grimes into runner-up status — an incredible feat, since Grimes had placed second to Moore’s fourth place at the recent Atlanta Pro. Patrick Moore also picked up the award for best posing, and was presented on stage by fellow Olympia finalist, Andrew Jacked.
Speaking to Jordan Hutchinson after the results were announced, Moore explained that he was on “Cloud Nine,” adding that, “It’s an even bigger win, when you show up with a look that everyone can appreciate. It’s win, but it’s also how you win.”
On the night, Moore showed up with a highly conditioned physique that the judges could not deny. “Chasing this win has been a long time,” reflected the big man, who had to go through nine different shows to find his route to Las Vegas. Of course, his biggest challenge is now ahead of him, because Moore will be sharing a stage with the likes of current Mr. ‘O,’ Derek Lunsford, Hadi Choopan, Samson Dauda, and Andrew Jacked, who are all ready to go all-in, in Las Vegas.
