The International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) Academy in Dubai organised a Fitness Challenge course at AB Fitness Gym in Dubai, attended by the academy’s chairman, Retired Colonel Abdulkarim Mohammed Saeed, Academy Director Dr. Waleed Abdulkarim, as well as a group of athletes and fitness enthusiasts.

The course featured specialized lectures by Professor Maurício de Arruda Campos, President of the Brazilian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation. The lectures covered healthy sports culture, human physiology, designing and evaluating training programs, warm-up and cool-down techniques, and developing strength, endurance, and athletic performance, along with practical applications as part of a 24-minute training programme.

The course, held on Friday and Saturday, saw strong engagement from participants and concluded with the awarding of internationally accredited certificates from the headquarters of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) in Spain.

Retired Colonel Abdulkarim Mohammed Saeed, Chairman of the Dubai International Academy for Bodybuilding and Fitness, emphasized that the Academy is committed to providing coaches with the latest scientific knowledge by organizing specialized courses and hosting leading experts and professors from around the world.

He said: “Over the past years, since the Academy was established around 11 years ago, we have successfully trained coaches to a very good educational standard. The interest and passion we witnessed during this course confirm their desire to develop their abilities. We provide them with the latest scientific knowledge and host leading specialists. Therefore, I am confident that in the near future we will see many of these coaches pursue international professional careers.”

Brazilian Professor Maurício de Arruda Campos, President of the Brazilian Bodybuilding Federation and Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the International Federation of Fitness and Bodybuilding, stressed that science, nutrition, training techniques, and assessment are essential elements in improving athletes’ performance.

He noted that their importance extends beyond bodybuilding to include various other sports.

He said: “It is not only about improving performance, but also about reducing the risk of injuries. Therefore, it is essential to maintain a high level of performance while providing a safe environment for athletes so they can continue practicing sports while maintaining good health.”

He added that scientific advancements have contributed to improving athletes’ health and their ability to remain active into older age, pointing to Masters categories, which include athletes over 60 and 70 who maintain good levels of health and fitness.

Dr. Waleed Abdulkarim, Director of the Dubai International Academy for Bodybuilding and Fitness, praised the Academy’s role in developing coaches and qualifying them according to the latest scientific approaches.

He said: “IFBB Dubai Academy is doing an outstanding job in the UAE, thanks to the quality of education, the high standard of its courses, and the content it provides to coaches. The content is of high quality and keeps pace with the latest developments. It helps coaches adopt better approaches when working with athletes and develop more effective training programs.”

He added: “I am confident that this development will soon be reflected in athletes’ results in competitions. We will see outstanding athletes achieving top positions in international competitions, thanks to the qualified coaches who are being prepared and trained through IFBB Dubai Academy.”
