Ramon Dino Wants Chris Bumstead To Come Out Of Retirement So He Can Beat the Champ on Stage
Ramon Dino has reached the top of the Classic Physique division, but there is still one box he would like to check: beating Chris Bumstead on the Olympia stage. The reigning Classic Physique Olympia champion recently appeared on Olympia TV and discussed the possibility of Bumstead coming out of retirement. Rather than hoping the six-time champion stays away, Dino made it clear that he would welcome the challenge.
Dino spent years chasing Bumstead during CBum’s historic run atop Classic Physique but was never able to defeat him. Now, with the Olympia title belonging to Dino, the Brazilian star wants an opportunity to reverse their roles.
Ramon Dino Wants To Defend His Olympia Title Against Chris Bumstead
Bumstead won six consecutive Classic Physique Olympia championships from 2019 through 2024 before announcing his retirement from the division. Dino was one of his biggest challengers, finishing runner-up to Bumstead at both the 2022 and 2023 Olympia.
Dino ultimately captured the vacant Classic Physique Olympia crown after Bumstead stepped away, meaning he achieved his dream of becoming Mr. Olympia without ever defeating CBum directly.
During his Olympia TV appearance, Dino explained that he would like Bumstead to return so he could finally get that opportunity. This time, the dynamic would be completely different. Dino would enter as the defending champion, while Bumstead would be attempting to take the title back from him.
Dino doubled down on that position while responding to criticism on social media. After one commenter suggested that he could not beat Bumstead in his prime and now wanted to face him only after retirement, Dino fired back.
“The one who has to try is him, not me. Because today the title belongs to Brazil, not to him.”
It is a major change from the years when Dino was attempting to knock Bumstead off his throne.
Dino also responded to another commenter who mocked his desire to beat CBum as nothing more than a dream.
“Yes, just like every day I dreamed of getting to the Olympia and I did. I dreamed of winning one day and I did. Dreams are possible.”
Chris Bumstead Continues To Fuel Comeback Speculation
The timing of Dino’s comments is particularly interesting because Bumstead has done little to quiet speculation about a potential return.
CBum recently showed off his physique with a front double-biceps pose and joked that he “might accidentally catch a stride and fall out of retirement.”
Whether that was simply Bumstead having fun with bodybuilding fans or something more remains unclear. There has been no official announcement that Bumstead intends to compete at the 2026 Olympia.
What is clear is that retirement has not meant disappearing from the gym.
As Generation Iron has covered throughout 2026, Bumstead has remained in phenomenal shape while shifting some of his attention away from contest preparation and toward becoming seriously strong. Without the demands of an Olympia prep dictating every aspect of his training, CBum has been pushing heavier weights and testing his strength on major lifts.
At only 31 years old, Bumstead is also considerably younger than many bodybuilding legends were when they finally walked away from competition.
That combination, his age, current physique, continued training intensity and occasional teasing comments, is enough to keep comeback speculation alive.
Could CBum Chase The Olympia Record?
There would also be significant history on the line if Bumstead ever decided to return.
With six Classic Physique Olympia victories, Bumstead sits two championships short of the eight Olympia titles won by Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney in Men’s Open Bodybuilding.
Bumstead has never publicly committed to chasing that overall Olympia record, and his decision to retire was heavily influenced by his desire to prioritize his family and life outside competitive bodybuilding.
Still, a return would immediately create arguably the biggest storyline possible in Classic Physique: A champion vs. champion showdown?
Instead of Dino chasing the seemingly unbeatable champion, Bumstead would be the challenger attempting to reclaim a championship he voluntarily surrendered.
And Dino clearly wants that fight.
