2026 Britain’s Strongest Woman Results: Deadlift Legend Lucy Underdown Dominates to Claim Historic 3-Peat

Far from being an underdog, Lucy Underdown has secured a third “Britain’s Strongest Woman” title after dominating the field once again, with her trademark power and sheer determination.

Underdown, who is a serving police officer in Kent, England, first took the title of Britain’s Strongest Woman in 2024, and has won again this year to mark her third consecutive victory. “What a great competition!” wrote Underdown in a celebratory post via Instagram. “I knew exactly what I needed to do and when it came down to the competition, I had a sense of calm I have never felt before. I knew each event, what was needed, and I executed everything perfectly.”

The strong woman, 36, who is also known for her female world record deadlifting feats with the standard bar (717 pounds / 325 kilograms) and elephant bar (701 pounds / 318 kilograms) reigned supreme at the York Barbican on July 25, winning the Deadlift and Stone to Shoulder events outright, and amassing a 4.5-point lead on the runner-up, Rebecca Roberts.

“Deadlift was where I come into my own,” explained Underdown of her determination to double down. “Claire Myler (who came fifth) was always going to lay down the gauntlet and my dead’s weren’t always feeling great in training. But on the day, 280kg (617 pounds) x 4 was comfortable with loads left in the tank, and left me feeling confident for bigger things!”

Underdown has emerged as one of the strength industry’s most inspiring athletes. As a full-time police officer, this strongwoman balances a demanding career with being one of the best to ever pick up a barbell. Before she became a strongwoman, Underdown was also keen discus thrower, ranking as high as No. 3 in the United Kingdom.

The strong female has also opened-up in recent times about dealing with negative voices on social media and finding that her nerves and anxiety can often present the biggest challenge. Fortunately, everything was positive following her pic three-peat. Taking the time to acknowledge her fellow competitors, Underdown also thanked her coach Shane Reece for guiding her to another victory. “Thanks also to my coach @mstsystems for putting up with me for another year, and helping to keep me at the top of the game,” said Britain’s Strongest Woman. “We did it again.”
