Times News NetworkKanpur: Men lifters of the city emerged as runner up in the overall championship of state-level powerlifting championship which concluded recently in Bareilly on August 10. Women lifters too performed well and captured third place.Besides, the lifters won 13 gold, 7 silver and 2 bronze medals in the meet. Individual awards further enhanced the achievements of the players from Kanpur. In the sub-junior category, Shivani Verma was honoured with the ‘Strong Woman’ award, while in the junior category, Manish received the ‘Strong Man’ award and Urvashi Chandra was presented with the prestigious ‘Best Lifter’ award.On this magnificent success, Rahul Shukla, secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Powerlifting Association along with Rajesh Dixit, Manish Mishra, Anil Kushwaha, coach Saurabh Kumar, and other office-bearers and members of the association, congratulated the players and wished them a bright future.The medal winners are (Gold)-Anand Kumar, Alok Chaurasia, Rakesh Sharma, Vaibhav Pratap Singh, Tarun Verma, Shiva Singh, Manish, Virat Bajpai, Anmol Pandey, Supriya, Urvashi Chandra, Shivani Verma, and Prachi Thakur.Silver-Prince Kumar Gupta, Ayush, Gaurav, Vivek Singh Rathore, Ramji Rajput, Krishna Sharma, and Himanshu Nigam.Bronze-Ashwani Kumar Tripathi and Aryan.
