Kalyan: Players from Sai Fitness Gym in Wadeghar village, Kalyan, delivered an impressive performance at the Maharashtra State Powerlifting Championship held at Ganesh Maidan, Govandi, winning several medals across different categories.
The championship, organised under the aegis of the Indian Powerlifting Federation, saw Sai Fitness Gym head coach Mahesh Patil clinch gold in the 66 kg Master-1 Raw Bench Press category and earn the prestigious title of “Strongman Bench Press”. Divyanshu Patil also secured gold in the 53 kg Sub-Junior Raw Bench Press category and won the same special honour.
Other gym athletes also made their mark, with Sunny Sakpal, Prathamesh Ingale and Sarvesh Jamdar winning gold medals in their respective categories. Swayam Ritu Singh won bronze, while Shri Gaikwad and Kartavya secured silver medals. Yash added another bronze to the team’s tally.
The athletes credited coach Mahesh Patil’s disciplined training and continuous guidance for their success. Their performance has brought pride to Sai Fitness Gym and the Kalyan sporting community, with hopes of further achievements at national-level competitions.
