World Para Powerlifting (WPPO) has launched the Expression of Interest (EOI) period for the 2029-2032 competition cycle leading up to the Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games. This cycle includes World Cups 2029-2032, Regional Championships 2030 and 2032, and World Championships 2029, 2030 and 2031.
The Host Expression of Interest Application marks the first step in the bidding pathway for WPPO events.
By submitting the application, organisations formally signal their intention to take part in the bidding cycle. This initial stage gathers essential organisational information required by World Para Powerlifting to assess prospective hosts and determine their suitability for future events.
The aim of this stage is to establish a single register of applicant organisations, ensuring transparent information exchange throughout the bidding pathway. It enables World Para Powerlifting to collect comparable data to assess the initial feasibility of each prospective bid, and to review preliminary guarantees and the level of support committed by partner institutions.

Interested organisations must complete all questions in detail and attach all the relevant documents. Once the Host Expression of Interest Application is complete, the document must be submitted to Info@WorldParaPowerlifting.org.
The deadline to submit the Host Expression of Interest Application is 31 August 2026.
World Para Powerlifting, governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), serves as the international federation for the sport and is headquartered in Bonn, Germany.
Para powerlifting is one of the Paralympic Movement’s most inclusive sports, practiced today in nearly 100 countries. Athletes compete in the bench press discipline, showcasing exceptional upper‑body strength.
The sport has been part of the Paralympic Games since New York 1984, with women’s events added at Sydney 2000.
The first World Championships under WPPO governance took place in Uppsala, Sweden, in 1994. The most recent edition was held in Cairo, Egypt, in 2025.
World Para Powerlifting also stages four Regional Championships — Africa, Americas, Asia‑Oceania and Europe — providing competitive opportunities across all major regions and strengthening the sport’s global development pathway.
