American fitness influencer and YouTuber Connor Murphy, once one of YouTube’s most recognisable bodybuilding personalities, has reportedly died in Thailand at the age of 32. News of his death spread rapidly across social media after Thai authorities recovered the body of a 32-year-old American identified as Connor Michael Murphy from a lake following an incident in Samut Prakan province.
However, while Thai authorities have confirmed recovering the body of an American with that name, Murphy’s family and representatives have not yet issued a public statement, and the final cause of death is still awaiting autopsy results.
The news has prompted many to revisit Murphy’s remarkable rise as a fitness creator, and the personal struggles that increasingly overshadowed his online career.
From bodybuilding star to YouTube sensation
Connor Murphy first rose to prominence in the mid-2010s through YouTube videos centred on bodybuilding, fitness transformations and social experiments.
His muscular physique, confidence and prank-style fitness content quickly attracted millions of views. He increasingly posted videos and messages about spirituality, consciousness and unconventional beliefs, leading many long-time followers to express concern about his wellbeing. His erratic online behaviour sparked widespread discussion within the fitness community, with several creators commenting on the noticeable shift in his personality and content.
Murphy also faced legal troubles in Thailand in 2024 after he was arrested following an alleged domestic violence incident involving his then-girlfriend. At the time, local media reported that he claimed the incident was staged for content, although the allegations attracted significant attention online.

According to Thai media reports cited by multiple international outlets, the incident unfolded at a rented luxury property in Samut Prakan, near Bangkok.
According to ThaiRath, authorities said that Murphy allegedly began behaving erratically before leaving the house and entering a nearby lake. Witnesses reportedly saw him swimming before he disappeared beneath the water. Rescue divers later recovered his body approximately 20 metres from the shore. Initial examinations reportedly found no visible signs of assault, and officials have ordered an autopsy and toxicology tests to determine the exact cause of death.
Murphy’s girlfriend reportedly told investigators she had not seen him use drugs before the incident and did not know why he behaved the way he did.

Although numerous websites and social media accounts have reported Murphy’s death, there remains an important distinction between the recovery of a body identified as Connor Michael Murphy by Thai authorities and official confirmation from his family or representatives.
