PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – A local athlete who didn’t start going to the gym until she was 71 is now a world record holder in powerlifting at 87 years old.
Ten years into her powerlifting journey, Rosemary Nichols just set state and national records in three categories for her age group at the National Powerlifting League Western regionals in Newport.
Nichols became a world record holder last July at the U.S. Powerlifting Association Nationals in Pittsburgh, alongside her current trainer, Kyle Singh, who sends her custom workout plans from Eugene.
