While much of the bodybuilding world spends Independence Day weekend celebrating the holiday, hundreds of athletes will be chasing something even bigger, an IFBB Pro card. The 2026 NPC Universe takes over the Marriott at Glenpointe in Teaneck, New Jersey from July 2-4, bringing together some of the top amateur physique competitors in the country. One of the premier events on the NPC calendar, the contest is expected to award more than 160 IFBB Pro cards across multiple divisions, making it one of the largest opportunities of the year for athletes hoping to reach the professional ranks.
Generation Iron partner MuscleMeds MHP is also serving as an official partner of the event, continuing its longtime support of amateur bodybuilding and the next generation of IFBB Pro League talent.
Every competitor on stage this weekend shares the same long-term goal, earning a place on the Olympia stage, making the NPC Universe one of the sport’s most important launching pads.

One of the Biggest Amateur Weekends of the Year
Every season features several major national-level NPC contests, but few rival the scale of the NPC Universe. For many competitors, months, or even years, of contest prep come down to a single weekend where earning professional status can completely change the trajectory of a bodybuilding career.
The event regularly produces future IFBB stars, with competitors across every men’s and women’s division battling through stacked classes before overall winners are crowned and new professionals are born.
Because of the sheer number of divisions and classes, fans can expect three days packed with action as bodybuilding, Classic Physique, Men’s Physique, Figure, Bikini, Wellness, Women’s Physique, Fitness, and Women’s Bodybuilding all take the stage.
A Busy Holiday Weekend for the Sport
The NPC Universe headlines one of the busiest weekends on the bodybuilding calendar. While many fans celebrate the Fourth of July, competitors will be making final weight cuts, applying their final coats of tan, and stepping onstage in pursuit of an IFBB Pro card.
With more than 160 professional cards expected to be awarded and hundreds of athletes competing, the 2026 NPC Universe once again stands as one of the premier launching pads for bodybuilding’s next generation.
