Jasrotia wins two gold medals at Int’l Powerlifting C’ship

KATHUA, June 18: Bringing laurels to the nation and the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, internationally acclaimed powerlifter and World Champion Advocate H.P. Singh Jasrotia (Bablu) has won two gold medals at the Iron World Powerlifting Championship 2026 held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The prestigious international championship witnessed participation from athletes representing more than 12 countries, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines, Mexico, Maldives, Singapore, Kazakhstan and Vietnam.

Displaying exceptional strength, determination and competitive spirit, Jasrotia delivered an outstanding performance in the championship. He successfully lifted 110 kg in Bench Press, 155 kg in Squat and 185 kg in Deadlift, registering a total SBD of 450 kg. His remarkable performance earned him two gold medals and brought immense pride to the country.

Competing in the Masters category (50–55 years) under the 82 kg weight class, Jasrotia outperformed some of the strongest contenders from Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Mexico to secure the top honours. By proudly raising the Indian Tricolour on the international stage, he once again showcased the talent, dedication and potential of Indian athletes.

His achievement has been widely celebrated across Kathua district and the Jammu region, with sports enthusiasts and well-wishers congratulating him on his success.

Speaking after his victory, Jasrotia expressed gratitude to his family members, coaches, friends, supporters and well-wishers for their unwavering encouragement. He attributed his success to God’s blessings, relentless hard work, discipline and consistent training.

He also appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and adopt sports, fitness, yoga and healthy living as an integral part of their lives.

“The youth are the greatest strength of our nation. If they remain committed to sports and health, India will emerge as one of the strongest and healthiest nations in the world,” he said.

Jasrotia’s achievement serves as a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes across Jammu & Kashmir and the country, proving that dedication, perseverance and self-belief can turn dreams into reality.
