LUDHIANA, June 14: Arunachal Pradesh celebrated physique athlete Hillang Yajik as she added another major achievement to her growing list of accolades by clinching gold medal in Women’s Model Physique category at two-day 15thFederation Cup Men’s Bodybuilding and Sports Physique, Women’s Model Physique and Fitness Physique Championship, which concluded here in Punjab on June 13.
Organised by Punjab Amateur Bodybuilding Association, the prestigious two-day national championship brought together top athletes from across the country in categories including Men’s Bodybuilding, Sports Physique, Women’s Model Physique and Fitness Physique. Yajik emerged as the champion in women’s model physique division, outperforming a highly competitive field of 26 participants representing various states and union territories.
Her victory further reinforces her status as one of India’s leading physique sports athletes and a prominent sporting icon from the Northeast.The latest national triumph comes on the back of an extraordinary 2025 season, during which Yajik scripted history by becoming Arunachal Pradesh’s first female athlete to win an international gold medal in physique sports.
At the 15thSouth Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships in Bhutan, she had secured a gold medal in women’s model physique category and a silver medal, marking a breakthrough moment for the state in international physique competition.
Yajik continued her remarkable run on the global stage by claiming a silver medal in women’s swimsuit physique event at World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships in Indonesia, competing against some of the world’s best athletes.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Yajik on her latest achievement and praised her for continuing to bring laurels to the state and the country.
“Congratulations Hillang Yajik on winning the Gold Medal in the Women’s Model Physique category at the 15th Federation Cup Championship in Ludhiana. Competing against some of the best athletes from across the country and emerging victorious is a remarkable achievement. After creating history on the international stage and now adding another national gold to your growing list of accomplishments, you have once again brought immense pride to Arunachal Pradesh and the nation. Wishing you greater success in the years ahead,” Khandu said in a post on X.
