The world’s strongest brothers are throwing their weight behind Team Scotland ahead of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Tom and Luke Stoltman’s impressive deadlifts, log presses and keg tosses have earned them an array of trophies, accolades and world records over the years.
But the super-strong siblings from Invergordon could not be more excited to cheer on those competing on home soil at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games this summer – and they’ve even been helping one of Team Scotland’s rising stars train for the Games.
Finlay Davidson, a 21-year-old from Inverkeithing in Fife, is competing in Para Powerlifting and will line up in the men’s Lightweight Under 72kg category. He will compete for the first medal of the games when Para Powerlifting opens the sporting programme on July 24 in the SEC Armadillo.
Ahead of this summer, Finlay took a trip to Stoltman Strength Centre, which has gone ‘All In’ for the Games, to get some top tips from the record-breaking duo.
Finlay first tried Para Powerlifting at the Dwarf Sports Association UK National Games in 2022 and quickly found his calling. Within a year of taking up the sport, he finished fourth at his first major championships. Last year, he competed at his first senior World Championships, continuing his rapid rise on the international stage.
With two of the world’s strongest men in his corner, Finlay hopes to follow in their inspirational footsteps one day.
He said: “I never thought I’d get to compete at a home games, and I never thought I’d have the chance to train with two of the world’s biggest strength athletes. I can’t believe both are coming true.
“The Stoltman Brothers are an inspiration for what they’ve done on a world stage, while managing to stay so grounded and down to earth. They’re brilliant guys and top training partners – we definitely learned a lot from each other. Hopefully next time we train together, I’ll have even more to teach them with a Games under my belt!.”
Tom Stoltman (32) is a three-time winner of the World’s Strongest Man title, first winning in 2021 when he became the first Scot to claim the crown, before winning again in 2022 and 2024. He has also won Britain’s Strongest Man in 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2026.
Meanwhile, his 41-year-old brother Luke won Europe’s Strongest Man in 2021 and 2024. A six-time World’s Strongest Man finalist, he also held the British log lift record at 221kg from 2020 to 2025.
Not only will the brothers be cheering on Finlay and other athletes during the Games, they hope the showcase of talent will inspire more youngsters and adults to get into the sport.
Tom, who has just returned from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where the latest World’s Strongest Man event took place, added: “We’re very proud to have trained with Finlay and wish him all the best. He’s an incredible athlete and we learned a lot from his technique, his attitude to training, and his attitude to life.
“Para Powerlifting will be one of the highlights of the Games and, after meeting Finlay, we know Team Scotland have a rising star who’ll be a huge hit with fans! You’ll be missing out if you’re not there to see it.”
The Commonwealth Games will return to Glasgow next month with 3000 of the world’s best athletes, from 74 nations and territories competing in an 11 day celebration of sport from July23 to August 2.
